DirecTV Allows Some NFL Refunds After Anthem Controversy

Satellite broadcaster DirecTV will let at least some customers get refunds for its Sunday Ticket package of NFL games if they cite players’ national anthem protests.  The price of the package is about $280. and ordinarily, you cannot get a refund for the service once the season starts. AT&T, which owns DirecTV,  declined to confirm the change in policy.

Cowboys and Cardinals Lock Arms in NFL Anthem Protest

New York Knicks Trade Carmelo Anthony To Oklahoma City Thunder

All-Star forward Carmelo Anthony of the New York Knicks will be traded to the Oklahoma City Thunder.  In turn, The Thunder will send center Enes Kanter, forward Doug McDermott and a 2018 second-round draft pick from the Chicago Bulls to the Knicks.  Anthony is a 10-time All-Star and three-time Olympic gold medalist, and was traded from the Denver Nuggets to the Knicks back in 2011. ...Read more

Advanced stages of CTE found in Aaron Hernandez’s brain

Former New England Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez suffered from CTE, this according to the CTE Center at Boston University.  According to his attorney Jose Baez, Hernandez had a severe case of the degenerative brain disease known as chronic traumatic encephalopathy.  They plan to sue the NFL and team, claiming that they failed to protect their players’ safety. ...Read more

Midwestern State’s Robert Grays Dies From Injuries Suffered During Game

Midwestern State’s cornerback Robert Grays, a sophomore from Houston, passed away from a neck injury he suffered while making a tackle in a game on Saturday.   Midwestern athletics department spokesman Trey Reed said that Grays was hospitalized in Wichita Falls on Saturday night and then flown to a hospital in Houston, where he died Tuesday.   Grays was 19 years old. ...Read more
