Ben Simmons, Donovan Mitchell, Jayson Tatum Headline NBA All-Rookie 1st Team

The NBA announced the members of the 2017-18 All-Rookie teams Tuesday.  Ben Simmons of the Philadelphia 76ers and Donovan Mitchell of the Utah Jazz were named unanimous selections. Simmons and Mitchell received the maximum 100 first-team votes, while the Boston Celtics’ Jayson Tatum received 99. Los Angeles Lakers forward Kyle Kuzma and Chicago Bulls forward Lauri Markkanen rounded out the first-team selections. Dallas Mavericks guard Dennis Smith Jr., Lakers guard Lonzo Ball, Atlanta Hawks forward John Collins, Sacramento Kings guard Bogdan Bogdanovic and Phoenix Suns forward Josh Jackson make up the All-Rookie second team. ...Read more

LeBron James Scores 44 Points To Take The Cavaliers To Win Over Boston: Series Even With Celtics

LeBron James scored 44 points on 17-of-28 shooting to lead the Cleveland Cavaliers to a 111-102 victory over the Boston Celtics on Monday night at Quicken Loans Arena to even the Eastern Conference finals at two games each.  Kyle Korver scored 14 points for the Cavaliers. Fox Reportedly Reaches Agreement With WWE To Air SmackDown Live

WWE has reportedly agreed to make Fox the new home of “SmackDown Live.” The Hollywood Reporter says that the five-year deal has a total value of more than $1 billion. Sources said the deal will begin in October 2019, and that the show will move to Friday nights on Fox’s broadcast channel. On Thursday, NBC Universal declined its right of first refusal to hit the numbers that WWE proposed on “SmackDown.” NBC instead focused its efforts on “Monday Night Raw.” “SmackDown Live,” which airs on Tuesdays, has averaged 2.59 million viewers per week in 2018, while “Raw” has averaged about 3 million viewers. Cavaliers Overpower Celtics 116-86 In Game 3 Of Eastern Conference Finals

LeBron James had 27 points and 12 assists, Kevin Love added 14 rebounds and the Cleveland Cavaliers tightening the Eastern Conference finals with a 116-86 victory in Game 3 over the Boston Celtics on Saturday night. The Cavs used a three-day break in the series to regroup after being beaten by the Celtics in the first 2 games. They built a 19-point lead in the first quarter, pushed it to 30 in the second half and overpowered the Celtics, who fell to 1-5 on the road in the postseason. Justify Wins Preakness 2018, Setting Up Triple Crown Attempt

Two weeks ago, Justify took the victory at the Kentucky Derby, and this past weekend Justify won the Preakness by half a length in 1:55.93.  He now heads to the Belmont Stakes on June 9 with a chance to win the Triple Crown. Bravazo finished second; Tenfold took third. “It was a hard race today on him, probably the hardest race he’s had, but he’s getting fit,” trainer Bob Baffer said after. Justify ran the race at 2-5 odds, with only Good Magic coming anywhere close at 7-2. Mike Budenholzer Reaches Agreement With Milwaukee Bucks To Be New Head Coach

Mike Budenholzer and the Bucks have reportedly reached an agreement to hire him as their head coach. In early May, it was reported that Budenholzer was on the list of coaching candidates for the Bucks. The Hawks hired Budenholzer, 48, in 2013, but he and the team agreed to part ways in April. The Hawks went 24-58 this season.  During Budenholzer’s tenure, the Hawks made the playoffs four times, including a trip to the Eastern Conference Finals in 2015. Budenholzer was voted as the NBA Coach of the Year that season. Prior to that, Budenholzer worked as an assistant coach for the Spurs for 17 years. ...Read more

Potential No. 1 Overall Pick Luka Doncic Not Certain About NBA Decision

Slovenian basketball star Luka Doncic of Real Madrid is the No. 1 overall pick in June’s NBA draft, but says he is unsure about committing to the NBA. Real Madrid is in the EuroLeague Final Four, which ends with the championship game on Sunday. When he was asked during a news conference if these will be the last two games he plays in Europe, Doncic kept his options open. “I’m not sure if these are the last two games,” Doncic said in Serbian. “We are yet to make this decision. Perhaps after the season.” Doncic reportedly declared for the draft last month and is expected to be drafted by either the Phoenix Suns at No. 1 or the Sacramento Kings at No. 2. 19-year-old Doncic has played in EuroLeague since 2015, and is one of the top European prospects ever. Diamondbacks A.J. Pollock To MIss 4-8 Weeks With Fracture Of Left Thumb

Diamondbacks’ outfielder AJ Pollock has an avulsion fracture in his left thumb and is expected to miss four to eight weeks, manager Torey Lovullo announced.  Pollock sustained the injury diving for a ball in centerfield against the Brewers on Monday night.  “Obviously not great news,” Lovullo said. “But we know that AJ is going to be doing everything he possibly can to get back as quickly as possible. Everybody heals differently so obviously it’s a big range there, but we’re going to stay as optimistic as possible.” Pollock will be in a soft cast. Surgery will not be necessary, Lovullo said. “It’s an occupational hazard with baseball players a lot of times,” Hazen said. “It’s tough…like I said it’s just a hazard for playing the game the way he plays the game.” ...Read more

Twins Catcher Jason Castro Out For Season Due To Knee Surgery

Twins catcher and noted defensive specialist Jason Castro will miss the remainder of the 2018 after major surgery on the meniscus in his knee. Manager Paul Molitor made the announcement Wednesday. Team medical staffers originally thought Castro would be out for 4-6 weeks, but during Tuesday’s procedure surgeons discovered the tear was far larger than originally thought. Second-year catcher Mitch Garver and veteran Bobby Wilson will handle the catching chores in his absence. ...Read more

Phoenix Suns Win NBA Draft Lottery

The Phoenix Suns have won the 2018 NBA Draft Lottery. They came into the night with the best odds; as the Sacramento Kings were slated to pick eighth and the Atlanta Hawks fifth but both moved into the top three. That meant that the Memphis Grizzlies and Dallas Mavericks got bumped from the top three.  Marvin Bagley III, DeAndre Ayton and Luca Doncic are all potential first overall picks, with Ayton looking like the favorite. Jaren Jackson and Mohamed Bamba are also seen as top prospects.   ...Read more
