Miami Marlins Giancarlo Stanton Brings Home Run Total To 59

Miami Marlins outfielder Giancarlo Stanton hit his 58th and 59th home runs Thursday against the Atlanta Braves, the most since Sammy Sosa and Barry Bonds did so in 2001.   Bonds set the all-time home run record with 73 in 2001, whie Sosa hit 64 homers. They are the last players to hit 60 in a season.  The Marlins have three games remaining in the regular season, so Stanton could wind up setting his own personal record for home runs.  ...Read more

Green Bay Packers’ Davante Adams Taken Off Field After Hit

Green Bay Packers’ Davante Adams, a fourth-year receiver, was taken to a local hospital after he took a helmet-to-helmet hit from linebacker Danny Trevathan of the Chicago Bears at Thursday night’s game.  The Packers said Adams was conscious and had feeling in all of his extremities. NCAA College Basketball Coaches Among Those Charged With Federal Crimes

The FBI has arrested 10 people, including college basketball coaches and high-level apparel company employees, in connection with an alleged widespread college basketball scheme.  They have been charged with wire fraud, bribery, travel act, and conspiracy offenses.  The U.S. Department of Justice said each of the coaches faces a maximum sentence of 80 years in prison. ...Read more

DirecTV Allows Some NFL Refunds After Anthem Controversy

Satellite broadcaster DirecTV will let at least some customers get refunds for its Sunday Ticket package of NFL games if they cite players’ national anthem protests.  The price of the package is about $280. and ordinarily, you cannot get a refund for the service once the season starts. AT&T, which owns DirecTV,  declined to confirm the change in policy.
