Writer/Producer Ryan Murphy Reveals His 4-Year-Old Son’s Cancer Battle And $10 Million Donation

Ryan Murphy revealed on Instagram that his son, Ford Murphy, has been battling cancer for the past two years. Today, Murphy said, his son is “thriving.” Murphy shared the post to commemorate the anniversary of Ford’s diagnosis. Ford, who is now four, was diagnosed with a neuroblastoma when he was two years old. Along with a photo of Ford riding a pony, Murphy wrote: “Two years ago, this sweet little innocent boy with a deep belly laugh and an obsession with Monster Trucks was diagnosed with neuroblastoma…an often fatal pediatric cancer.” In honor of his son, Murphy added that he and his family, including husband David Miller, would be donating $10 million to Children’s Hospital Los Angeles. Children’s Hospital Los Angeles is a nonprofit institution that provides care to children with critical conditions.  ...Read more

Dalls Cowboys Acquire Star Wide Receiver Amari Cooper For 1st-Round Draft Pick

The Dallas Cowboys have acquired wide receiver Amari Cooper from the Oakland Raiders for a first-round pick in the 2019 draft. Cooper is a fourth-year pro out of Alabama, and the fourth overall pick in the 2015 draft.  During his three full seasons with the Raiders, Cooper made the Pro Bowl twice, in 2015 and 2016, before taking a small step back during 2017. Cooper is set to play 2019 under a fifth-year option worth roughly $13.9 million. Currently, Cooper is in the NFL’s concussion protocol after suffering the injury Oct. 14 in Oakland’s loss to Seattle in London. ...Read more

Judge Rules That Michael Avenatti, Attorney For Stormy Daniels, Must Pay Ex-Attorney Millions In Back Pay

On Monday a California judge ruled that attorney Michael Avenatti, who represents adult-film actress Stormy Daniels, must pay $4.85 million to an attorney who worked at his former law firm. Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Dennis Landin ruled that Avenatti personally guaranteed a settlement with attorney Jason Frank, who said Eagan Avenatti misstated its profits and that he was owed millions of dollars. Frank had worked at Avenatti’s former firm under an independent contractor agreement and was supposed to collect 25 percent of its annual profits, along with 20 percent of fees his clients paid, court documents say. ...Read more

Category 4 Hurricane Willa Threatens Mexico’s Pacific Coast

The National Hurricane Center said on Monday that Hurricane Willa, a potentially catastrophic storm, travelled towards Mexico’s Pacific coast with winds of 155 mph. Forecasters expect the Category 4 storm to make landfall along Mexico’s southwestern coast this afternoon or evening. Willa — described as an “extremely dangerous storm” — is expected to bring life-threatening storm surge, wind and rainfall over west-central and southwestern Mexico. Willa was located about 135 miles south-southwest of Las Islas Marias, Mexico, and some 110 miles southwest of Cabo Corrientes, Mexico, the hurricane center said as of 5 p.m. on Monday. Hurricane warnings were posted for a stretch of shore between San Blas and Mazatlan. Netflix Cancels Marvel Show “Luke Cage” After Two Seasons

Just days after cancelling Iron Fist, Netflix has also cancelled Luke Cage, cutting the Marvel universe in half. Marvel and Netflix announced, “Unfortunately, Marvel’s Luke Cage will not return for a third season. Everyone at Marvel Television and Netflix is grateful to the dedicated showrunner, writers, cast and crew who brought Harlem’s Hero to life for the past two seasons, and to all the fans who have supported the series.”  Though Marvel and Netflix did not disclose a reason for cancelling “Luke Cage,” sources say it was not due to low ratings.  According to The Hollywood Reporter, “the cancellation was due to creative differences and the inability to agree to terms for a third season of the show,” even though principal cast members had already been signed up.  ...Read more

Actress Selma Blair Reveals She Was Diagnosed With Multiple Sclerosis

In an Instagram post, actress Selma Blair announced that she has been diagnosed with multiple sclerosis. Blair revealed she was diagnosed in August, and is facing the effects of the disease everyday. Blair, 46, said she’s had symptoms for years, and thanked her producers at her new Netflix show for being understanding. She said she hopes “to give some hope to others. And even to myself,” and encourage people to ask for help when they need it. Blair posted on her Instagram, “I am disabled. I fall sometimes. I drop things. My memory is foggy. And my left side is asking for directions from a broken gps. But we are doing it. And I laugh and I don’t know exactly what I will do precisely but I will do my best.” Multiple sclerosis is a neurological disease that occurs when there’s a breakdown in communication between the brain and other parts of the body. Denver Nuggets Forward Will Barton Out Indefinitely With Hip And Core Strain

Denver Nuggets announced on Monday that forward Will Barton has been diagnosed with a right hip and core strain suffered in Saturday’s win over the Suns. As of press time, a timetable for his return was unknown at this time. Barton sustained the injury in the third quarter of Saturday’s game and had to be taken off the court. He underwent tests Sunday and further evaluation confirmed the severity of the injury.  Barton is signed a four-year deal to remain in Denver this offseason. He has averaged 13-plus points per game in each of his last four seasons and is averaging 16.5 points so far this season.  ...Read more

Tampa Bay Buccaneers LB Kwon Alexander Out For Season With Torn ACL

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ starting linebacker Kwon Alexander’s knee injury will take him out for the rest of the season. An MRI on Monday confirmed that Alexander has indeed torn his ACL. Alexander suffered the injury just before halftime during Sunday’s overtime victory over the Cleveland Browns. Alexander is a former fourth-round pick by the Buccaneers in 2015. He’s started all 46 games he’s appeared in over his first four years in the league, making 380 tackles with six interceptions and seven sacks. The Bucs have also lost rookie linebacker Jack Cichy to a torn ACL. It’s the second time he’s torn an ACL after he suffered the injury in his other knee just last year. The Buccaneers are now down to Lavonte David, Devante Bond, Adarius Taylor, and Cameron Lynch as their linebackers currently on the active roster. ...Read more

Six Shot Near Jacksonville Jaguars Stadium Before NFL Game; 3 Reported In Critical Condition

Six people were wounded, three critically, in a possible gang-related shooting blocks from the Florida stadium where the NFL’s Houston Texans played and defeated the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday. The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office said several shots were fired about 12:35 p.m. Sunday on a boulevard outside in the general area of the stadium. Five men and one woman were struck by bullets and wounded. He said all were rushed to hospitals, ranging in age from 20s to 70s. The shooting came before the game’s scheduled 1 p.m. start, which went on and concluded without incident. Authorities had no immediate report on what led up to the shootings. People from across the U.K. gathered over the weekend in London to take part in a public protest over Brexit. The march, which organizers said drew more than 600,000 to west London’s Park Lane, was called by People’s Vote, a group that’s campaigning for the the public to have a say on any final Brexit deal to prevent the ruling Conservative government from forcing it through Parliament.
