NY Yankees Starter Luis Severino Out For Year, Will Need Tommy John Surgery On Elbow

New York Yankees general manager Brian Cashman confirmed on Tuesday that their right-handed starting pitcher, Luis Severino, will need Tommy John surgery. Last week Severino experienced discomfort in his right forearm, and was sent from spring training camp in Tampa, Fla., to New York for medical testing. Surgery and subsequent rehabilitation will sideline the 26-year-old for the entire 2020 season. ...Read more

Katherine Johnson, NASA Pioneer And Inspiration For ‘Hidden Figures,’ Dies At 101

Katherine Johnson, the NASA mathematician who was depicted in the film “Hidden Figures,” died Monday, NASA said in a tweet. She was 101. NASA Administrator Jim Bridenstine in a statement:  “Ms. Johnson helped our nation enlarge the frontiers of space even as she made huge strides that also opened doors for women and people of color in the universal human quest to explore space.
