Celtics Take Game 1 Of East Finals, Beating Cavaliers 108-83

The Boston Celtics opened a 21-point, first-quarter lead and scorched the Cleveland Cavaliers 108-83 on Sunday in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference finals. Jaylen Brown had 23 points and eight rebounds, Marcus Morris added 21 points and 10 boards. Al Horford scored 20 points for the Celtics, who ran off 17 consecutive points in the first quarter and never allowed the Cavaliers within single digits again. Greg Hardy To Face Former NFL DE Austen Lane In Pro MMA Debut

Former NFL defensive end Greg Hardy will take on another ex-NFLer when he squares off against Austin Lane on June 12 in his professional MMA debut. Hardy — who was suspended for 10 games in 2014 for assaulting his girlfriend — has not played in the league since the 2015 season and won his amateur fighting debut with a first-round knockout last November. Hardy’s professional MMA debut against Lane will be on the Dana White Tuesday Night Contender Series. Lane has won his first four fights as a professional MMA fighter. Oklahoma City Thunder Forward Nick Collison Retiring After 15 Seasons

Oklahoma City forward Nick Collison is retiring after 15 years with the Thunder. The 37-year-old Collison announced his decision Thursday through the team. The Thunder said Collison is among five NBA players to have spent the past 15 or more seasons all with one franchise. Collison said his goal was to make a career out of basketball and that he was ”blessed to be in the NBA for 15 seasons.” Collison started 177 of his 910 career regular-season games, averaging 5.9 points and 5.2 rebounds. He and Russell Westbrook are the only two players to spend the first 10 years of the relocated franchise in Oklahoma City. ...Read more

Former MLB Player Rafael Palmeiro, 53, Signs With Independent Team

Rafael Palmeiro has signed to play for the independent Cleburne Railroaders at age 53, nearly 13 years after his last major league game. The second-year American Association team announced the deal Wednesday. The Railroaders also signed Palmeiro’s 28-year-old son, Patrick, who has played for other independent teams the past three seasons. Palmeiro said in a statement issued by the team that he was “especially excited to get to do this with my son Patrick.” It was not clear exactly how much the elder Palmeiro will play or what his role will be for the Railroaders. ...Read more

Harvey Weinstein’s Estranged Wife Georgina Chapman Breaks Her Silence

Fashion designer Georgina Chapman has spoken publicly for the first time about the scandal surrounding her ex-husband Harvey Weinstein. Chapman spoke in the June issue of American Vogue about how she never suspected Weinstein of the multiple sexual assaults of which he has been accused.  “Absolutely not. Never,” she replied, when asked if she had suspicions, adding that she has “never been one of those people who obsesses about where someone is.” She said: “I had what I thought was a very happy marriage. I loved my life.” Chapman shares two children with Weinstein: India, 7, and Dashiell, 5.  She disclosed that she has seen a therapist to help her work her way through the situation. “There was a part of me that was terribly naive – clearly, so naive. I have moments of rage, I have moments of confusion, I have moments of disbelief! And I have moments when I just cry for my children. Bad Boys III” is coming soon to a theater near you. Will Smith and Martin Lawrence are slated to return as Miami detectives Mike Lowrey and Marcus Burnett in “Bad Boys for Life,” which was given a tentative release date of January 17, 2020. This marks the latest chapter in the saga to bring a third “Bad Boys” film to the big screen, fifteen years after the release of “Bad Boys II.”  “Bad Boys III” was announced back in 2015, with action filmmaker Joe Carnahan attached to direct and a release the flick for February 2017. President Trump Set To Meet With North Korea’s Kim On June 12 In Singapore

U.S. President Donald Trump said on Thursday he will meet with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un on June 12 in Singapore for a first ever summit between the leaders of the two countries. “The highly anticipated meeting between Kim Jong Un and myself will take place in Singapore on June 12th. We will both try to make it a very special moment for World Peace!” Trump said on Twitter.  The two leaders are expected to discuss North Korea’s nuclear weapons development and testing program. E. Coli Outbreak Linked To Romaine Lettuce Spreads To Four Additional States

The latest outbreak of the E. Coli virus is linked to romaine lettuce and according to new reports, it has spread to four additional states. Tainted romaine lettuce that is linked to a new outbreak of E. Coli reportedly originated in Yuma, Arizona according to CNN. Earlier this week, the CDC announced that Florida, Minnesota, North Dakota and Texas are the latest states to report E. Coli related illnesses after eating the contaminated lettuce. This brings the new total to 29 cases. The CDC gives a list of symptoms to look out for if you have recently eaten romaine lettuce – they include: severe stomach cramps, diarrhea and vomiting. The recovery period for those who have been affected is roughly five to seven days. The CDC further cautions potential lettuce consumers, stating “If you do not know if the lettuce in a salad mix is romaine, do not eat it.” ...Read more

Red Sox Pitcher David Price Diagnosed With Carpal Tunnel Syndrome

Boston Red Sox left-hander David Price has been diagnosed with a mild case of carpal tunnel syndrome. Manager Alex Cora said Price, who was sent back to Boston for testing, will throw a bullpen session Thursday and then the team will decide what to do next. Price was already scratched from his Wednesday start against the New York Yankees. Price was removed for precautionary reasons after one inning of work against the Yankees on April 11 because of numbness in his throwing hand, including the loss of feeling in his fingertips. “For me this is quote-unquote good news compared to anything else,” Cora said. ...Read more

Annette Bening Joining “Captain Marvel”

Annette Bening is joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The four-time Oscar nominee has signed on for a role in Captain Marvel. Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck are directing the film, which is set in the 1990s and will see the return of Marvel characters like Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson), Phil Coulson (Clark Gregg), and Ronan the Accuser (Lee Pace). Brie Larson is headlining the film as the titular hero, a.k.a. Carol Danvers, an Air Force pilot who gains superpowers after being exposed to alien DNA.  Captain Marvel marks Bening’s first superhero movie. She’ll next appear in Michael Mayer’s adaptation of Anton Chekhov’s The Seagull, in theaters Friday.
