Corruption Trial Of Senator Menendez Ends In Mistrial

The corruption trial of New Jersey’s Democratic U.S. Senator Bob Menendez ended in a mistrial on Thursday, after the jury said it was hopelessly deadlocked on bribery, fraud and other charges. Menendez, 63, was accused of accepting private flights, campaign contributions and other bribes from a wealthy patron, Florida ophthalmologist Salomon Melgen, in exchange for official favors. Lonzo Ball sat out the entire fourth quarter of Wednesday’s loss to the Philadelphia 76ers, but that doesn’t mean his role will change going forward. Lakers coach Luke Walton said on Thursday that there are “no talks” about bringing Ball off the bench and reaffirmed him as their starter. Senators Unveil New Bipartisan Gun Control Legislation

Sens. Chris Murphy (D-Conn.) and John Cornyn (R-Texas) are expected to announce their unlikely partnership on gun legislation Thursday, signaling a bipartisan attempt to bridge party differences in the wake of tragic mass shootings across the country in recent weeks. The Cornyn-Murphy bill aims to encourage states and federal agencies to report infractions that would prohibit a person from buying a gun to a national database. Elizabeth Hurley shared an open letter on Twitter in response to her The Royals costar Alexandra Parks’ statement about show runner Mark Schwahn’s alleged “reprehensible behavior” on the set of their E! series on Thursday, November 16.  In part, Hurley stated “I have loved working alongside Alexandra and Mark for four years while shooting The Royals, and had absolutely no idea that she was feeling frightened and sexually intimidated by Mark during this time.”  25 members of the cast and crew of The Royals accused Schwahn of “repeated unwanted sexual harassment” in a statement published by Variety on Thursday. ...Read more

Sylvester Stallone Denies Claim That He Sexually Assaulted Minor Back In 1986

Sylvester Stallone has vehemently denied allegations that he forced a teenage girl to have sex with him and his bodyguard at a ritzy Las Vegas hotel more than three decades ago. An unidentified 16-year-old girl filed a report with the Las Vegas Police Department on July 29, 1986, alleging that Stallone and his bodyguard, Michael de Luca, “intimidated” her into having sex with them at the Las Vegas Hilton Hotel.  A spokeswoman for Stallone, 71, claims the allegations are “ridiculous” and “categorically false.”  ...Read more

Australian Diplomat Dies After Fall From New York Building Terrace

An Australian diplomat accidentally fell five stories to his death from a Manhattan building terrace early Wednesday morning.  Julian Simpson, 30, died when he slipped over a railing at his Lower East Side apartment just after 1:40 am, a New York Police Department spokesman confirmed.  Simpson was Australia’s second secretary to the United Nations and based in Australia’s permanent mission to the United States in New York. ...Read more

Sixth Woman Accuses Roy Moore Of Sexual Misconduct

A sixth woman has come forward with misconduct allegations against U.S. Senate candidate Roy Moore.  Alabama resident Tina Johnson has accused Moore of sexual misconduct.  Moore vehemently denies all allegations, but leading Republicans apparently view the allegations as substantial enough to withdraw their support for him.  Despite the pushback, Moore reportedly intends to continue his campaign for the state’s special election, which is scheduled on Dec. 12. ...Read more

Shanshan Feng Makes History In Rise To World No. 1

Shanshan Feng landed in Dallas on Monday and was told she was the World No. 1 golfer.  She becomes the first Chinese golfer – male or female – to ascend to No. 1.  Feng, who won on Sunday in China, had traveled back to the U.S. for this week’s LPGA season finale, the CME Group Tour Championship in Naples, where she has a chance to win the CME Race to the Globe’s $1 million bonus as well as Player of the Year honors.  ...Read more

Washington Linebacker Azeem Victor Suspended After DUI Arrest

The Washington Huskies have suspended senior linebacker Azeem Victor indefinitely after his arrest on suspicion of DUI early Sunday morning. King County Jail records show Victor was booked at 4:16 a.m., and released six hours later.  It’s the second time Victor, a preseason ESPN.com All-American, has been suspended this season.
