Special Counsel Robert Mueller Breaks Silence; Says He Will Not Comment Beyond His Report

On Wednesday, Special Counsel Robert Mueller spoke publicly for the first time in over two years about his investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 election, and whether President Donald Trump obstructed justice. Mueller said he does not intend to testify to Congress and explaining why he did not have the “option” of charging the president with a crime. Mueller spoke amid demands by congressional Democrats that he testify in public. Mitch McConnell Says He “Would Fill” Supreme Court Vacancy In 2020 If Necessary

Senate majority leader Mitch McConnell said at a chamber luncheon in Paducah, Kentucky this week that if a Supreme Court vacancy emerges next year, he will fill it. The comment diverges from his decision in 2016 to not consider President Barack Obama’s Supreme Court nomination of Merrick Garland after the sudden death of Justice Antonin Scalia earlier that year. Ellen DeGeneres Reveals She Was Sexually Assaulted As A Teenager

Ellen DeGeneres is discussing her experience with sexual assault in the hopes of helping fellow survivors. During an interview on season two of “My Next Guest Needs No Introduction With David Letterman,” DeGeneres mentioned that her mother, Betty DeGeneres, had married “a very bad man” when the talk show host was a teen. When Betty was subsequently diagnosed with breast cancer, DeGeneres’ stepfather abused Betty’s condition in targeting the younger DeGeneres. DeGeneres said the assault took place more than once and is “angry” about her response to the incident, “I was too weak to stand up – I was 15 or 16. It’s a really horrible, horrible story and the only reason I’m actually going to go into detail about it is because I want other girls to not ever let someone do that.” ...Read more

Boston Red Sox Dustin Pedroia “Not Sure” He Will Play Again

Boston Red Sox second baseman Dustin Pedroia, 35, said he is “not sure” whether he will play baseball again because of his chronically injured left knee. Pedroia discussed his injury at Fenway Park shortly after the Red Sox transferred him to the 60-day injured list. Joined by manager Alex Cora and president of baseball operations Dave Dombrowski, Pedroia said “time will give me the right answer if my knee can do this” and said that “walking is tough” for him on some days but said he does not plan to undergo another knee surgery. ...Read more
