Model Tess Holliday Fire Back After Piers Morgan Body-Shames Her Over Cosmopolitan U.K. Cover

33-year-old plus-sized model Tess Holliday, who appears on the cover of Cosmopolitan U.K. magazine’s October 2018 issue, is responding to comments by Piers Morgan in which he seems to be body-shaming Holliday. Morgan wrote on his Instagram page on Thursday morning: “As Britain battles an ever-worsening obesity crisis, this is the new cover of Cosmo. Apparently we’re supposed to view it as a ‘huge step forward for body positivity.’ What a load of old baloney. This cover is just as dangerous & misguided as celebrating size zero models.” Tess fired back, tweeting, “to everyone saying I’m a burden to the British health care system, I’m American so you don’t have to worry about my fat ass. Worry about what horrible people you are by whining about how me being on the cover of a glossy magazine impacts your small minded life.”  Holliday says she is currently a size 22. She was a U.S. size 16 to 18 before she gave birth to her first son Rylee, and also shares son Bowie Juniper Holliday, 2, with husband Nick Holliday. “I look back on those photos now and I don’t wish I was that size, but what I wish is that I loved myself 120 pounds ago,” she said. “I’m at the heaviest I’ve ever been in my life now and it took me being the heaviest to finally love myself.” ‘The October 2018 issue of Cosmopolitan U.K., featuring Holliday on the cover, will be on sale today. ...Read more

Harvey Weinstein Files Motion To Dismiss Ashley Judd’s Defamation Lawsuit

Harvey Weinstein is seeking to dismiss a defamation lawsuit Ashley Judd filed against him earlier this year, insisting there’s no evidence to suggest he blacklisted her. Judd took legal action against the producer in April, accusing him of blacklisting her and sabotaging her career after she refused his sexual advances. In her suit, she referred to comments made by Lord of the Rings director Peter Jackson late last year, when he confessed to dropping Judd from casting consideration for his 2001 blockbuster based on remarks Weinstein had allegedly made about her lack of professionalism.
Weinstein vehemently denied jeopardizing Judd’s career and now he is asking a judge to throw out the lawsuit because he claims neither Judd nor Jackson have any evidence to back up their accusations. Weinstein, who is already facing multiple sex assault charges in New York and Los Angeles, has denied all allegations of non-consensual sex. ...Read more

Charges Dismissed Against Three Suspects In New Mexico Compound Case

A judge on Wednesday dismissed child neglect charges against three of five people arrested at a remote desert compound in northern New Mexico where 11 children were found living in filth and the body of a 3-year-old boy was discovered. Judge Emilio Chavez ruled that he could not keep the three in custody because prosecutors missed a 10-day limit for an evidentiary hearing to establish probable cause for the neglect charges. Prosecutors could still seek charges for Lucas Morton, Subhannah Wahhaj and Hujrah Wahha by asking a grand jury to indict them, but offered no immediate indication on how they would proceed. Authorities are pushing ahead with other charges filed against the dead boy’s father, Siraj Ibn Wahhaj, and his partner, Jany Leveille. They were due in court and are accused of child abuse resulting in death, which could carry life sentences in connection with the death of Abdul-ghani Wahhaj. ...Read more
