Incumbent Rep. Mark Sanford Loses In South Carolina Primary

Rep. Mark Sanford, one of President Trump’s sharpest Republican critics in Congress, was ousted by a primary challenger on Tuesday after Trump waged a last-minute effort to defeat him. The South Carolina representative lost to state legislator Katie Arrington, who won Trump’s support just hours before the polls closed on Tuesday. Trump lashed out against Sanford, declaring him “nothing but trouble” in a tweet and referencing his 2009 extramarital affair. Sanford becomes just the second House Republican to lose in a primary this year. “Based on the numbers I see, I think I’ll end up losing this election,” a resigned Sanford told supporters Tuesday night. With nearly all the vote tallied, Arrington had slightly more than half the vote — enough to clinch the nomination and avoid a runoff. ...Read more

Jamie Foxx is the latest Hollywood star to be accused of sexual assault, and he is calling the allegation “absurd.” A woman filed a report with the Las Vegas Police Department, claiming the Oscar-winning actor struck her in the face with his penis after she refused to perform oral sex on him at a party he was hosting in 2002. A statement was issued through his lawyer, Allison Hart, saying “Jamie emphatically denies that this incident ever occurred, and he will be filing a report with the Las Vegas Police Department against the woman for filing a false police report against him.  The first time [Jamie] became aware of this woman’s absurd claims about an incident that supposedly occurred 16 years ago was when TMZ contacted his representatives [Tuesday] about this story. The alleged incident was not reported to law enforcement in 2002, or at any other time in the last 16 years until last Friday because the incident never happened.”  ...Read more

Los Angeles Rams Ordered To Pay Reggie Bush $12.5M For Injury

A jury ordered the Los Angeles Rams to pay Reggie Bush $12.45 million, $4.95 million in compensatory damages and $7.5 million in punitive damages, after it found the team 100 percent liable for an injury he sustained in 2015 when the franchise was still in St. Louis. Bush, then a member of the San Francisco 49ers, tore his meniscus in his left knee after being pushed out of bounds while returning a punt at the Edward Jones Dome on November 1, 2015. Bush’s momentum carried him beyond the sideline and onto a slab of uncovered concrete about 35 feet behind the 49ers bench where he slipped and fell, resulting in the injury. Bush’s legal team called the strip a “concrete ring of death.” A week before Bush suffered his injury, Cleveland Browns quarterback Josh McCown slipped on the same piece of concrete, hurting his shoulder. “I’m very happy with the verdict,” Bush told the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. “The people spoke and decided very fairly.” ...Read more
