Junior Hockey Team Bus Crash In Canada Leaves 14 Dead And 15 Injured

Fourteen people died and 15 more were injured in a crash involving a bus carrying a junior hockey team in Saskatchewan, Canada, and a semi truck, according to the Royal Canadian Mounted Police. 29 people, including the bus driver, were on the bus containing the Humboldt Broncos, during the 5 p.m. crash. Some of the people are in critical condition; the driver of the semi-truck was not injured. An initial investigation has revealed that the semi-truck was traveling west on Highway 335 as the team bus was going north on Highway 35. The Humboldt Broncos were on their way to play the Nipawin Hawks in a Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League playoff game. The team has players ages 16 through 21. Fox News Channel host Laura Ingraham is expected back at work Monday. She was on a one-week vacation that served as a cooling-off period. She has faced backlash by advertisers upset over her tweet mocking a Parkland, Florida, school shooting survivor. many companies say they’ll no longer advertise with Ingraham. Arnold Schwarzenegger Returns Home After Successful Heart Surgery

Arnold Schwarzenegger has reportedly left Cedars-Sinai Medical Center after successful cardiac surgery. The procedure was put in place by medical interventionists responding to a resurgence of Arnold’s congenital heart defect, which he first received treatment for in 1997. Schwarzenegger had been tweeting from his hospital bed since Thursday, giving his supporters an update on his condition. He also showed gratitude over his bedside care in his latest tweet, saying in part, “I went to sleep expecting to wake up with a small incision and woke up with a big one – but guess what? I woke up, and that’s something to be thankful for. Thank you to the doctors & nurses. And I’m truly filled with gratitude for all of the kind messages.” Schwarzenegger’s spokesman, Daniel Ketchell, confirmed the news of his return, citing he was alive and well. 3 Dead, 20 Injured After Van Plows Into Crowd In Germany

Three people are dead and 20 were injured after a van plowed into a group of people in the German city of Münster Saturday. The driver of the van shot himself after the incident and was included in the casualty count. While officials have not announced the van driver’s identity or motive, but multiple German outlets reported that the suspect was a 48-year-old German man named Jens R. One German news agency said the suspect had connections to the right-wing extremist scene, though there is no current indication that the suspect himself was an extremist. ‘Jersey Shore Family Vacation’ Breaks Record For Most Watched Unscripted Cable Premiere In 6 Years

The premiere of MTV’s Jersey Shore Family Vacation proved to be a huge success for the cable network. The new series became the most watched unscripted cable series premiere in six years. The show’s first two episodes, which were part of a back-to-back two-hour special, averaged a score of 2.96 in the 18-34 demographic—higher than the 2012 season finale. Jersey Shore Family Vacation was also a big hit on social media, with the hashtag #JSFamilyVacation trending for seven hours in the United States on Twitter. The series’ success on social media may have also had to do with it being a global premiere, which was a first for MTV. Patriots Julian Edelman Helps Stop Potential School Shooting After Instagram Comment

New England Patriots wide receiver Julian Edelman may have helped thwart a school shooting when one of his Instagram followers brought to his attention a troubling comment on one of his posts. Edelman said that a follower of his messaged him in March about a threatening comment that appeared on one of Edelman’s posts; he told his assistant to look for the comment and alert police. The comment read, “I’m going to shoot my school up watch the news.” The comment was then traced to a house in Port Huron, Michigan, where a 14-year-old boy admitted to posting the threat. Two rifles belonging to the boy’s mother were found in the house, and the boy is now being held in juvenile detention. Edelman credits the Instagram user who first told him about the comment, saying “Thankfully, this kid said something. We’re going to send him something, a care package, just for his work. Missing CDC Employee’s Body Found In River Weeks After Disappearance

Police announced on Thursday that the body of Timothy Cunningham, a missing employee who worked as an epidemiologist at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, was found this week in a river nearly two months after his “unusual” disappearance prompted a nationwide search. His body was found in Chattahoochee River in northwest Atlanta late Tuesday when fishermen in the area spotted the body. “We have no indications to this point that were was any foul play,” Atlanta Police Department Major Michael O’Connor said in a Thursday news conference. An official cause of death has yet to be released, but a preliminary autopsy suggested the 35-year-old drowned, the medical examiner said at the Thursday news conference.  There are still several unanswered questions surrounding Cunningham’s disappearance. His parents said earlier this week their son sent a “disturbing” text to them 24 hours before he vanished. However, they would not elaborate on the text. 5.3 Magnitude Earthquake Hits Off Southern California Coast

A 5.3 magnitude earthquake has hit 35 miles southwest of Channel Islands, Beach, Calif., according to the U.S. Geological Survey. The USGS says the quake occurred at 12:29 p.m. about 38 miles (61 kilometers) southwest of the mainland city of Ventura. The quake affected parts of South California including the Los Angeles area. Many people who felt the quake reacted to the sudden movement on Twitter, though no immediate damage or injuries were reported.   ...Read more

Actress Jaime King Speaks Out On Violent Attack Against Her & Her Son

Jaime King has posted on her Instagram about the terrifying act of violence that occurred against her, her four-year-old son James Knight, and her friend Judit Balogh on April 4 in Beverly Hills. The actress wrote a note to her fans, thanking them for support and noting that many of the facts that have been released are not accurate. “James Knight is very shaken up, as am I. The attack was incredibly violent, and my 4 year old son was obviously the target of the individual’s brutal attack, which is terrifying,” King wrote. Beverly Hills Police have stated that King’s car was parked and her son James was sitting in a car seat in the back, while King’s friend was in the driver’s seat. Suspect Paul Francis Floyd, 47, jumped on the car and pummeled the window. King’s friend got out of the car to try to stop Floyd, who threw a can at her.  “In an effort to protect the child, the female driver exited the vehicle and confronted the suspect at which time he threw a can at her, striking her arm.” Police said Floyd had also kicked another car before attacking King’s Mercedes. Floyd was arrested on one count each of felony child endangerment and misdemeanor battery and two counts of felony vandalism.
