Transgender Asylum Seeker Dies In ICE Custody

Johana Medina Leon, a 25-year-old trans woman originally from El Salvador, died this weekend after being detained by Immigrations and Customs Enforcement at a privately run detention facility in New Mexico. Leon was taken to a hospital in El Paso, Texas last Tuesday after she reported having chest pain. She died just a few days later. Leon, who entered the United States in mid-April at the port of entry in El Paso, had passed her credible fear asylum interview on May 18, but she was only “paroled from custody” on the day she went to the hospital. ...Read more

Estranged Husband And His Girlfriend Arrested In Missing Connecticut Woman Case

Authorities said Sunday that the estranged husband of a missing Connecticut woman, along with his girlfriend, have been arrested on charges of evidence tampering and hindering prosecution. Fotis Dulos, 51, and Michelle Troconis, 44, were taken into custody in Avon, Connecticut, about 11 p.m. on Saturday in relation to the disappearance of Jennifer Dulos. 7 Confirmed Dead, 21 Missing After Boar With South Korean Tourists Sinks In Danube

Rescue workers are searching the Danube River in downtown Budapest for 21 people missing after a sightseeing boat with 33 South Koreans sank after colliding with a larger cruise ship during an evening downpour. Seven people were confirmed dead, officials said Thursday, and none of the tourists were wearing life jackets. Seven other people have been rescued. On Wednesday, Special Counsel Robert Mueller spoke publicly for the first time in over two years about his investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 election, and whether President Donald Trump obstructed justice. Mueller said he does not intend to testify to Congress and explaining why he did not have the “option” of charging the president with a crime. Mueller spoke amid demands by congressional Democrats that he testify in public. Senate majority leader Mitch McConnell said at a chamber luncheon in Paducah, Kentucky this week that if a Supreme Court vacancy emerges next year, he will fill it. The comment diverges from his decision in 2016 to not consider President Barack Obama’s Supreme Court nomination of Merrick Garland after the sudden death of Justice Antonin Scalia earlier that year. On Sunday, the New York Times reported that for almost a year United States Navy pilots reported UFO sightings to their superiors. Beginning in the summer of 2014 and stretching until March of 2015, pilots claim strange objects appeared almost daily.
