‘Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald’ Tops The Weekend Box Office With $62 Million

“Fantastic Beasts: Crimes of Grindelwald” had an opening weekend of $62 million to top the weekend box office.  However, the second installment is down $13 million from its first episode, “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.”  “The Crimes of Grindelwald” is the second entry in what Warner Bros. intends to be a five-film franchise, and has earned an additional $191 internationally for a worldwide gross of $253 million for its opening weekend.  The Grinch earned second place with $38.2 million, and Bohemian Rhapsody moved to third place with $15.7 million. Mark Wahlberg‘s Instant Family opened in fourth place with $14.7 million and Viola Davis‘ Widows rounded out the Top 5 with $12.3 million. ...Read more

Celine Dion Unveils Gender-Neutral Clothing Line For Children

Céline Dion is launching a gender-neutral children’s clothing line, saying in part that she hopes to “encourage a dialogue of equality and possibility.” Dion unveiled the CELINUNUNU collection with a humorous commercial, in which she’s shown in the maternity ward of a hospital, blowing a handful of sparkling confetti over a group of infants and replacing their traditional pink and blue sleepwear with black and white, non-gender-specific ensembles. Dion says in the clip, “We miss the past. They dream of tomorrow. We may thrust them forward into the future, but the course will always be theirs to choose.”  The CELINUNUNU collection features more than 70 styles for kids aged 0 to 14 years and was created with the children’s boutique brand NUNUNU, which specializes in unisex designs.  ...Read more

Actress Paz De La Huerta Sues Harvey Weinstein For Assault And Sexual Battery

Actress Paz de la Huerta filed a $60 million lawsuit against Harvey Weinstein, seeking damages for alleged assault, sexual battery and emotional distress. The “Boardwalk Empire” actress publicly accused Weinstein of raping her twice in 2010 in New York City and sexually assaulting her a year later in Los Angeles. After the Manhattan district attorney’s office declined to press charges in December, de la Huerta is suing Weinstein in California superior court. De la Huerta claims in the suit that Weinstein’s actions have caused her “physical injury, severe emotional distress, humiliation, embarrassment, mental and emotional distress and anxiety.” The actress also claims that Weinstein derailed her career after she refused his advances during the third incident in Los Angeles. De la Huerta estimates that Weinstein cost her $55 million over the course of her career.  Weinstein lawyer Benjamin Brafman issued a statement in response to the suit, calling de la Huerta “an unstable personality with a vivid imagination.”  ...Read more

YouTuber Lilly Singh Announces She’s Taking A Break To Focus On Mental Health

YouTube star Lilly Singh announced she is taking a break from her popular YouTube channel.  Singh — known to her fans as “Superwoman” — announced in a video on Monday that she’ll be taking a hiatus from the video platform, saying she’s not at her “optimal happiness” and could be “mentally healthier.”  She told her viewers that she’s been making videos for 8 years, and added “I am mentally, physically, emotionally and spiritually exhausted. I think there’s a lot going on up here that I need to address that I’m not able to, constantly pumping out content.” She also added that she hasn’t been happy with “a lot of the content I’ve created” adding, “I’ve always said that happiness is the most important thing that you will ever fight for. Relevance is not.” Singh started making videos on the platform back in 2010, and has been an outspoken advocate for mental health awareness. “Game Of Thrones” Season 8 Teaser Confirms It’s Final Season Will Premiere April 2019

On Twitter, HBO released a teaser for the final season of Game of Thrones, formally announcing that it will premiere in April 2019. The teaser was released with the text “Every battle. Every betrayal. Every risk. Every fight. Every sacrifice. Every death. All #ForTheThrone.” The trailer ends with the reveal that April of 2019 will be the debut of the eight — and final — season of the show, which first premiered in 2011.  ...Read more

Sandra Bullock Donates $100,000 To Help Save Animals From California Fires

Actress Sandra Bullock has made a $100,000 donation to The Humane Society of Ventura County, which is helping the animals affected by the wildfires in Southern California. The organization wrote on Facebook: “Our efforts for rescuing and caring for evacuated animals from the Hill and Woolsey fires had caught her attention and her team reached out to the shelter to show their supporT. Sandra Bullock and her family have reached out to other nonprofit organizations both during this incident and in the past. However, this time she wanted to contribute to those on the frontline rescuing animals in peril and hope others will choose to do the same.” The group said the donation will help provide care for animals such as horses, bulls and donkeys, amongst others, to be safely evacuated from the fires.  ...Read more

‘Toy Story 4’ Trailer Released, Introducing New Character

Pixar released the trailer for “Toy Story 4” on Monday, and the whole gang — Woody, Buzz Lightyear, Rex, Slinky Dog, Hamm the Piggy Bank and Mr. and Mrs. Potato Head — are back, along with a new character; a spork named Forky (voiced by Tony Hale.) While further details about the latest installment of the legendary Toy Story franchise are still scarce, the official synopsis states, “A road trip adventure alongside old and new friends will show Woody how big the world can be for a toy.” ...Read more

Stan Lee, Legendary Co-Creator Of Marvel Comics, Dies At Age 95

Stan Lee, a legend who created many of the popular Marvel characters, has died at age 95. Lee died early Monday morning at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles. He was born Stanley Martin Lieber on Dec. 28, 1922, in New York City. Lee got a job at Timely Comics as an assistant at age 17, and was with the company for near six decades before Timely Comics became Atlas Comics and then Marvel Comics. Lee created or co-created Black Panther, Spider-Man, X-Men, The Mighty Thor, Iron Man, The Fantastic Four, The Incredible Hulk, Daredevil, Ant-Man and other characters. Lee is survived by his daughter, J.C. His wife of 69 years, Joan, died in 2017.  ...Read more

The 2018 E! People’s Choice Awards: Full List Of Winners

The 44th Annual People’s Choice Awards — now called the E! People’s Choice Awards– made it’s debut on the E! channel on Sunday night, taking place at the Barker Hangar in Santa Monica, California. The evening’s big winner was the Marvel Cinematic Universe as “Black Panther” and “Avengers: Infinity War” earned a total of five awards, including the year’s biggest movie (“Avengers”) as well as top action stars (Chadwick Boseman and Danai Gurira, respectively, for “Black Panther”).
